• Over 20 Kickstart ROM modules and many more disk-based core OS components were fixed, updated, or added.
• Native support for all Motorola 68000-68060 CPUs, and a more robust Auto-Configuration process.
• Support for large hard disks, including boot, for any OS 2.x/3.x-compliant controller driver supporting HD_SCSI_CMD, TD_64 and/or NSD. Dedicated boot partitions are a thing of the past, even on legacy devices. You can also use variably-sized 'super floppies'.
• A modernized Workbench as powerful as the OS 3.9 version, including new or refreshed Preference editors in the legacy OS 3.1-'GadTools' style. Its tools such as DiskCopy and Format fully support large media. Printer, hard disk and many other support tools have been fixed and upgraded.
• Remember 'Diskdoctor'? It earned its PhD and is now ready to reliably rescue data from your floppies or hard disks.
• The CLI/Shell and many of its commands have been reworked and modernized, now sporting native support for pipes, softlinks, hardlinks and long filenames. New commands support running Workbench programs from the Shell or upgrading ROM modules.
• CrossDOS and the CD-ROM filesystem are now smarter, faster, and multi-threaded, adding Rockridge and Joliet extensions as well as UDF.
• Fully reworked, modernized and bug-fixed printer drivers include support for PCL and PostScript, along with legacy NEC and Epson printers.
• An optional upgradeable intuition.library provides off-screen dragging of windows for native and P96 RTG screens.
• A colorful, professionally designed icon set is included, along with the traditional four-color icons.

3. AmigaOS (the Amiga Operating System) can be divided into two parts: the Workbench disks and the Kickstart ROM. Kickstart and Workbench versions were released together, for use with each other. Just like real Amiga computers, Amiga emulators (such as WinUAE and WinFellow) need Amiga Kickstart ROM files in order to boot AmigaOS.

Say hello to ADF Opus Version 1.2. New in this version is a text viewer for viewing simple text files. The viewer allows viewing of files that are not associated with an application under Windows, such as startup-sequences. The viewer is available through the toolbar and the main and context menus.

Additional improvements:

• Fixed a bug that resulted in the boot block not being found during installation when creating an ADF in any directory other than Opus' root directory , caused by a silly assumption about the path to the bootblock.
• Prevented the bootblock warning from being displayed when creating a new, bootable adf.
• Updated help yet again for the new features and GUI elements and corrected some outdated elements.
• Fixed two bugs reported by Eric Trinh. One that caused divide by zero errors when trying to copy zero byte files and another that reportedly causes only the first volume on a device to be displayed when opening. I would like feedback on the second one as I can't test it myself. Looking back over past bug reports, it seems that this might be the cause of problems with opening volumes reported by several other users. Well done, Eric!

ADF Opus Version 1.1 is released. This version includes several improvements and fixes including menu icons and file undeletion. The addition of file undeletion adds another new and useful function to Opus. Microsoft expression studio.

ADF Opus Version 1 sees the light of day. This version finally drags Opus firmly into the land of the living. It contains forty-odd changes including fixes for all known and several previously unknown bugs, implementation of almost all the outstanding features I had thought of, numerous user interface enhancements and several updates. Installer packages are now provided for both source and release versions. See the release notes or the History page in Help for a complete list of changes visible in the release version and those only affecting the source.

Version 1 is the culmination of several years' work by a number of people, especially Laurent Clévy, without whose Amiga File system encapsulation none of this would be possible and Dan Sutherland, who did all the leg work and brought his initial inspiration to life. It's also much more complete and functional than previous versions. I have tested it as much as I can on Windows 98. Any feedback on your mileage on different systems, things that work well, or not so well, will be appreciated. I still have one or two more ideas for improvements, such as implementing the undelete functions of ADFLib within Opus but the bulk is now done.

At this auspicious milestone in ADF Opus' development, I would like to thank Dan, Laurent and all those who supported and encouraged me over the years of development. A special thanks, also, to those users who provided feedback and assistance and to all who use ADF Opus and have made it a worthwhile project.

So, where to from here? I will continue to maintain this site and provide fixes and improvements as they come to hand. Dan has expressed a passing interest in the concept of a wxWindows port and that would certainly make an interesting project and open up new doors to Opus' future. Only time will tell.

Welcome to the new SourceForge-based ADF Opus web page. This will be the ultimate resting place for Opus, excepting unforeseen circumstances.

Browse the Project page and have a look at the range of facilities available. They include mailing lists, forums, news, bug tracking and task management, feature requesting, CVS and release management. The latest code version will always be available via CVS and is likely to contain changes not yet available in a release version. If you are new to CVS, check out the CVS home and the CvsGui project right here on SourceForge. Older versions of ADF Opus are available from the Project Files page.

It would be nice to see some participation by other developers making improvements or submitting changes already made to the code. Updates will have to be submitted to me for uploading into the CVS tree. Ports to other platforms or a cross-platform framework such as wxWindows come to mind. All of the ADF management code is portable, only the OS-specific GUI code would need to be changed. If anyone is interested in assisting with such things, please let me know.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the new facilities and continue to find ADF Opus useful.

Amiga Workbench Rom

ADF Opus is a file management tool for ADF files and hardfiles. It allows you to perform most common tasks (like copying, renaming, deleting, etc.) with your ADFs without having to go anywhere near an emulator. Features include support for all filesystems (including directory-caching) high speed file copying, ability to access real Amiga harddisks and a powerful MDI interface.

ADF Opus may be used, modified and distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public Licence, either version 2 of the license or (at your option) any later version.
